ABOUT US

Gan Gabi is a Long Day, fully licensed Early Learning Centre, located in the beautiful suburb of Bentleigh East. Our specially crafted curriculum weaves together the best qualities of our Jewish heritage and modern education techniques. We offer quality childcare in a safe environment, where our devoted staff lovingly tend to the children in their care.

The Centre is named after Rabbi Gavriel Noach and Rebbetzen Rivkah Holtzberg the selfless Chabad Emissaries in Mumbai India. The couple were the epitome of goodness and their memory serves as an inspiration to all their brethren around the world.

Gan Gabi opened in 2008 with 3 children. Today we have a capacity of 74 children, aged 6 months to 5 years, and offer a 3-4-year-old funded kindergarten program. We place great emphasis on instilling Jewish pride, practices and traditions in the children, all while providing a holistic high-quality Secular Program, setting them up for success.

OUR FACILITIES

Gan Gabi is located in the heart of East Bentleigh, where we provide a nurturing environment and a heimish atmosphere that is fostered through community events which include celebrating Chagim as a centre.

Your child's individual development is important to us, which is why we provide extracurricular activities through our special events calendar.

Our large campus boasts two large outdoor yards, providing children with age-appropriate spaces to play in, to explore and develop their gross motor and social skills.

In addition, we provide a safe and secure environment with security gates for both cars and pedestrians.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Our centre is an affiliate of the international Chabad Lubavitch movement that is dedicated to spreading the wonders and rewards of Judaism throughout the globe in a nonjudgmental and inclusive manner. Chabad today, is the largest and most dynamic unified religious, educational and social force in the Jewish world. The movement boasts more than three thousand branches in nearly fifty countries on six continents. Nearly a million Jewish children are touched by our schools, institutions, summer camps and extracurricular programs around the world each year. Our centres everywhere serve the needs of all Jews, no matter their level of knowledge, observance or affiliation.

Gan Gabi is a warm, healthy and happy environment where small children can grow and develop emotionally, cognitively and physically. We strive to do this in a most professional and caring manner.

Our Jewish values drive the curriculum, environment and school culture. Through positive interactions we role model and encourage kindness, respect, compassion, confidence and responsibility. These practices are an interwoven theme that underlies are values. Judaism teaches that the formative years of early childhood are vitally important. A child is viewed as a seedling that we nurture with the utmost care, since every experience will shape and colour the quality as it blossoms into a tree. In early childhood, we “water” our “seeds” with learning (Jewish identity, curiosity and caring) to ensure that their roots are strong.

Our program spans a period of intense personal, social and academic growth. Young children develop at different paces. Our teachers are sensitive to the wide range of abilities and developmental levels within this age group. They offer creative activities that fit into the broad developmental continuum represented by the students. The curriculum combines structured and unstructured activities that encourage young children's most important work-creative play. Every day is filled with art, music, stories, language, Jewish living, and hands-on exploration.

Each classroom has teachers who guide the children and promote active learning, problem-solving, discovery of friendship and exploration of their new, expanded learning world. The classroom is a community in which Jewish values are modelled and reinforced and the Hebrew language is introduced through songs, games, and simple conversation. The child's family is celebrated, welcomed and encouraged to join together in the child's curiosity, fascination and learning journey at our Gan.
